I Need to Get my Videos From my video camera to my laptop but I don’t have a firewire port! help?

How do i put the videos on when there is no firewire port on my macbook??

If the video camera is miniDV or Digital8 tape based, you get another machine for the importing. Best if you also use an external drive to save the video project file… once the importing is done, shut the importing machine down, disconnect the external drive, connect it to your MacBook and power everything up… then edit.

USB-to-firewire cable/converter/adapter/hub things won’t work.

If the video camera is flash memory or hard disc drive, then use USB. Most of these don’t have firewire (a few JVC HDD cams do).

If the video camera is DVD based, you will need an external drawer loading DVD drive – I like LaCie’s – because you will rip the video using a ripper like HandBrake.
